Move over, waves and swells. You’re not the only thing that’s been seen rising above sea level along the Seattle waterfront in recent weeks.
This month, crews completed construction of the structural framing of our Passenger Only Ferry (POF) facility – marking the first time construction on our future home has gone vertical!
Before that, construction involved installing piles under water and fastening the concrete deck slabs on which the terminal will sit.
Now, crews will begin installation of the future terminal’s roof, then its walls, doors and gates, as well as mechanical and electrical utilities. Exciting stuff!
In addition to work on the actual structure, the contractor continues work on WSDOT’s larger Multimodal Terminal at Colman Dock Project. Recently, they installed the elevated, pedestrian-only bridge that will connect our future passenger-only home with the state terminal building.
That’s big news for King County Water Taxi riders, who will be able to avoid crossing paths with vehicle traffic to enjoy amenities at Colman Dock when the state project is complete.
King County Water Taxi’s future Passenger Only Facility is scheduled to open in summer 2019. For more information on the Multimodal Terminal at Colman Dock project, visit WSDOT’s website.
