A new online video shows how clean-burning biofuel is powering our floating fleet of King County Water Taxis.
The 92-second video was shot last month by the National Biodiesel Board, a national trade association, and features Marine Division Director Paul Brodeur describing the benefits to our environment of our use of Ultra-Low Sulfur diesel blended with 10-percent biodiesel. The video also offers a rare glimpse below decks of the engine room of the Doc Maynard.
As the related webpage notes, we source our biodiesel from used cooking oil from West Seattle restaurants. Each boat reduces CO2 emissions by more than 140 metric tons per year– enough to power 20 homes for a year.
