Last weekend, construction crews ushered in a new float and a new era for the West Seattle Water Taxi.

Our previous float was unstable, listing to one side, likely caused by water retention from failing pile guide mounting bolts.

Our new float features a new design from the manufacturer with integrated pile guides which should better handle the weather and wave action and minimize maintenance. The new float has a life expectancy of 25 years.

Seacrest Dock also received a new, wider passenger ramp.

We’re pleased that these new additions will increase safety and ease for West Seattle passengers before or after they set sail.
I will be ready to try this when it is safe to do so. I was raised in this location when it was occupied by Haury’s Boat House which was demolished in 1984. I lived there from 1943 to 1961. I have many fond memories of the area. Thank you, Jeanne James (Haury) Class of 61 W.S. High
