ORCA Card ahoy! Limited-edition cards celebrating King County Water Taxi available

Cross posted from Metro Matters

Summer is here and one of the best ways to enjoy a summer day is with a ride on the King County Water Taxi. If you’re going to ride the taxi, why not pay for it with a special-edition ORCA card sporting a water taxi at sunset?

In celebration of the arrival of summer and in preparation of midday service to Vashon starting July 1, 700 limited edition ORCA cards of the water taxi, featuring the M/V Doc Maynard, are available.  The cards are available at Metro’s Pass Sale Office, while supplies last.

The Doc Maynard is the vessel that last November diverted an unmoored barge that was moving toward the Seattle waterfront.

Use the ORCA water taxi card to ride the water taxi to downtown Seattle!

This ORCA card is the first to feature water transit and the first to have a QR code on the back. The QR code will allow riders to receive water taxi information and schedules.

There’s a water taxi on this card, but you can use it to ride buses, light rail, trains and bigger boats (Washington State Ferries).

The card fee has been waived for this ORCA card, which can be issued as Adult, Youth or ORCA LIFT replacement card to qualifying individuals.

Pick up your card at Metro’s Pass Sales Office, which is open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. The office is closed weekends and holidays.
