Cross posted from Metro Matters

Some of the best professional football (soccer) clubs in the world—including Seattle Sounders FC—are coming to Lumen Field in their quest for the FIFA Men’s Club World Cup. Bring your scarves but leave your vuvuzelas (banned by FIFA) and your car at home and take transit to the six matches starting on June 15.

Sounders FC will be joined by teams from six countries on the Lumen Field pitch, including UEFA Champions League winner Paris Saint-Germain and finalist Inter Milan. The tournament will preview the excitement and skills that will be on display in 2026 when Seattle hosts the FIFA Men’s World Cup.

Avoid the chance of missing any of the action by getting there on transit.

Don’t get caught offside, map out your route

King County Metro’s one-stop shop has everything you need to take transit to the match.

Start by planning your trip to the match. To plan the best route, you can use Trip Planner,  or call Metro Customer Service at 206-553-3000 weekdays, from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Don’t forget to press 1 for an interpreter.

At the bus stop, you can text your bus stop number to 62550 to see when the next bus is departing.

We will also have travel maps that can help ensure you won’t be “out of bounds” as you make your way into Pioneer Square.

And don’t forget to sign up for Transit Alerts for your favorite routes to help you keep your eye on the ball on match day.

Many paths to the goal

If you’re coming from south King County or north Seattle, Link light rail is an awesome connection to Lumen. Link will bring you from Lynnwood to a short dribble, walk, roll or scoot to the stadium! Metro has routes that will connect you to the light rail stops along the 1 Line.

Metro will also deploy additional buses to help fans get home after the match. There will be more service to support post-match rides south, north and east on Metro Route 150, RapidRide lines D and E, and Sound Transit Routes 545, 550 and 554.

If you’re coming from West Seattle to watch Botafogo play Sounders FC (June 15) or Internazionale Milano meet CA River Plate (June 25), the King County Water Taxi will have special post-match service to West Seattle from Pier 50 for these two night matches. The sailings will be at 8:30p.m. and 9:30 p.m. on June 15 and 7:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. on June 25.

Sound Transit is running special Sounder trains for five of the six matches. There also will be additional service on the Link light rail 1 line to support post-match travel from Lumen field. For more information on using Sound Transit to get to the matches, go to  https://www.soundtransit.org/worldcup.
