If you’re waiting for a sign that you should be riding King County Water Taxi, here it is. An actual sign.

Our new passenger-only ferry terminal in downtown Seattle received shiny new accessories: several dynamic signs.

Previously, passengers received scheduling updates through transit alerts over email or text, and relied on hard copy signage for line queuing, limiting the flexibility of the passenger queuing space.

These dynamic sign upgrades will enhance the passenger experience by displaying real-time vessel schedules, service interruptions, and fare information, and allow for queuing directions to change based on time of day, boat and route.

For example: This week, West Seattle and Vashon Water Taxi routes will not run on Thursday and Friday for the Thanksgiving holiday. If you’re signed up for Transit Alerts, you’ve already received an alert about the schedule change. If you missed the email or text and arrive at the passenger-only facility, you’ll also see this message on the new dynamic signs. In fact, that message has been played on rotation since the signs went live about a week ago.

We may be thankful for our new signs, but aw shucks, we’re also very thankful for our riders. We wish you a meaningful and delicious Thanksgiving, and will see you on Monday.
